Ground Floors

Below is detailed accessibility information for the ground floors of Angel, Haven, Mason, and Tisch Hall.

Angel Hall

  • Accessible entrance into Angell via ramp on state street side (west side of building)
  • Automatic push to open door available at ramp entrance into building
  • Northern Tile flooring: multicolored, blue red and white, 
  • G219: Video Processing Center:
    • Doors usually propped open, no push to open
    • Carpeted floor maroon color
    • Desks, chairs, whiteboards, storage cubbies available 
  • Restrooms
    • No push to open doors, doors have handle knobs
    • Large stall available for wheelchair users in both restrooms
  • Southern Tile Flooring: beige and grey, grey stripes go from flooring, up the wall, and to the ceiling.
  • Benches are scattered throughout, some are inaccessible with handles that limit space and movement
  • NO WINDOWS IN HALLWAY
  • No automatic doors to Tisch Hall or Haven hall from the ground floor of Mason. Ramp available to exit building
  • There is a ramp available to enter the rest of the building between the men’s and women’s restrooms. Taking the ramp will bring you to Angell Hall auditoriums and the Fishbowl computer site.

Haven Hall

  • 3 sets of triple door entrances at main entrance
  • 2 sets double doors on side entrance with push to open door 
  • Push to open door for office directly next to entrance of side entrance
  • Push to open door available on both ends of entrances
  • Hallway is spacious but there are lots of people loitering the main entrance coming from the diag (a popular spot on campus)
  • Main entrance is accessible there are no stairs
  • Accessible entrance from angel via ramp
  • Elevator is spacious and moves quickly
  • Over ten sets of benches and four table with benches and easy slide able seating
  • Variety of tiles of blue/green/black hues
  • Dull white lighting
  • Restrooms
    • Push to open door for women and men
    • Large stall available for wheelchair users in both restrooms

Mason Hall

  • Accessible entrance to Mason Hall via four doors on the north entrance to the building – only one of these four doors have a push-to-open door; there are carpets at the entrance to try and avoid tracking snow/water into the building
    • Doors open towards the outside of the building
  • This floor contains the Palmer Honors Commons (a common area for LSA Honors Students), LSA Media Services (G340, G330, G314, G302, G353B), the Fishbowl Computing Site, and classrooms
    • Palmer Honors Commons: G421
    • LSA Media Services: G302, G314, G330, G430, G353B
    • Classrooms: G325, G333, G353, G437, G444, G449, G463
  • This floor connects to Haven Hall at the south end of the hall, where there is little to no change in flooring between the halls 
  • This floor connected to Angell Hall at the west end of the hall, where there are a few stairs with railing 
  • The LSA Media Services rooms are all connected with a few general entrances and have semi-carpeted and semi-tiled flooring and white/yellow lighting
  • The hallway is spacious but there tends to be traffic during school hours/transition periods between class times
  • Dull yellow and white lighting in the hallways
  • Palmar Honors Commons is a quiet space to study for LSA Honors Students with many chairs, desks, and elevated table tops for students to utilize
  • Tile flooring throughout the hallways, bathrooms, and classrooms
  • Fishbowl Computing Site
    • Busier location that is popular study location among students; can be noisier at times but is overall a calmer site to study
    • Ramps available to navigate the area – there are some tables and high tops near the entrances of the Fishbowl with a tiled floor
    • Ramps and stairs lead to the lower part of the room, where there is a plethora of larger desks (the perfect size for wheelchair) with large Apple computers and chairs; this lower section is carpeted
    • Lighting has a white/blue tone and there are some colored lights in the room that change colors
    • There is a help desk in the middle of the room where students have the ability to ask for help
  • All the doors on this floor open into the room – no push-to-open options
  • Elevator is available that takes people to all the differing floors in Mason Hall
  • The setup of the classrooms on this floor regarding tables and chairs vary and are intended to fit anywhere between 18-24 people depending on the room
    • Rooms have white lighting 
  • Bathrooms
    • There is a male and a female bathroom on this floor
    • The male restroom has one heavier door in the entrance that opens into the interior of the restroom – no push-to-open option
    • The female restroom has two heavier doors that open towards the interior of the bathroom – no push-to-open option
      • In the women’s restroom, there are a plethora of stalls – one is bigger that provides more space within the stall
    • The room has more yellow lighting with slight white undertones
    • The floor is tiling
    • There is no gender-neutral bathroom on this floor

Tisch Hall

  • Main entrance is accessible there are no stairs
  • Additional ramp on left side of entrance for alternate route only accessible to angel hall there are stairs to Tisch from this entrance, no ramp inside
  • Push to open door available at entrance
  • Push to open door available to go to elevators and Angell hall auditorium
  • Hallway is spacious with with moderate amount of people mainly moving from angel hall auditoriums 
  • Elevator is spacious and moves slowly
  • One bench in hallway
  • White tile flooring with grey specs
  • Dull white lighting
  • Vending machines right in front of main entrance
  • Restrooms
    • Push to open door for women not men
    • Large stall available for wheelchair users in both restrooms
