Project Description: My project will explore the University of Michigan’s transition to digitized mental health services, focusing on the adoption of teletherapy services through Uwill and the utilization of the SilverCloud cognitive behavioral therapy platform. The project aims to shed light on the historical context, stakeholders, motivations, and ethical considerations surrounding this shift. Additionally, I will uncover the aspects of Uwill and SilverCloud that prompted the University of Michigan to choose these specific companies as opposed to their competitors. I will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the historical events and decisions that led to the incorporation of digital mental health services at the University of Michigan. This includes exploring the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors that drove this transition. I will also examine the primary stakeholders involved in these decisions, the future that these tools imagine for student mental health, and the ethical considerations to keep in mind in imagining mad/neurodivergent futures.
